How Jesus Restores Hope

March 12, 2006
Dr. Roger Ferguson, Sr. Pastor
Mark 5:21-24; 35-43

THEME: We are tempted to lose hope when our resources are inadequate for the challenges. When we come to Jesus in humble obedience, ready to follow him, He meets our deepest needs. Today God is looking for each of us to obey and exalt Him. Then we will see how God restores what life shatters. Do you follow Jesus?

Jesus restores hope when you HUMBLE yourself to FOLLOW Him.
Mark 5: 21-24

1. Show RESPECT with your life and REQUEST with you lips.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."
I Peter 5:6-7

II. Jesus restores hope when you understand God's DELAYS are not God's DENIALS. Mark 5: 25-36

Forsaking
ALL
I
TRUST
HIM

"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Romans 15:4-6

III. Jesus restores hope when you COOPERATE with Him.
Mark 5:37-43

1. Jesus casts out UNBELIEF. Mark 5:37-40
2. Jesus is TENDERLY. Mark 5:41
3. Jesus works in AWESOME ways. Mark 5:42
4. Jesus won't do for you what He expects FROM you. Mark 5:43

Act in truth and receive hope!

James 1:22 says "Faith without works is dead." What will you do in response to what God says? Sometime today reflect on these things:

1. Have you trusted Jesus alone to forgive sin and guide your life?
2. What area of fear or unbelief do you need to give to Christ?
3. Pray for the members of FBCO to bring pleasure to Christ in all we say and do.
