Inside the Prayer Life of Jesus Part I

Luke 11:1-4

Dr. Roger Ferguson, Sr. Pastor February 26, 2006

THEME: The only thing the apostles asked of Jesus was to teach them to pray. Why? They saw the priority of prayer in Jesus. His intimacy with His Heavenly Father shaped His life and they wanted what Jesus experienced. How if your prayer life? The Father is drawing you to Himself through Jesus and you realize that in prayer.

I. PRAISE: Gazing upon God's True nature. (Luke 11:1,2)
Prayer is PASSIONATE to Jesus.

Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name." Psalm 103:1

Praise Extends God's Kingdom.

II. PROVISION: God Cares for His children. (Luke 11:3)

"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things
will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33

III. PARDON: Extend the Grace you have EXPERIENCED. (Luke 11:4)
1. Forgiveness isn't about FORGETTING or EXCUSING.
2. Forgiveness is RELEASING to God.
IV. PERSEVERANCE: Finish the race WELL.

"But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's
cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure
devotion to Christ." II Corinthians 11:3

Make it Practical:
Prayer was a vital necessity in Jesus' life. What can we gain from
what he taught us?

1. Do you have a daily time and place for prayer carved out of your
busy schedule?

2. Which of the four above do you need to give attention to?

3. Thank God for His love and care for you.
