The Christian’s Hope

Romans 8:16-25

THEME: God is pure love and is in control yet things in life are out of control. How are we to live for God in a world that rejects Him? The hope God gives is sure. Will you trust Him to guide you and will you make the choices that honor Him above all else?

I. God reminds you that your disappointments
are His appointments with you.
(Romans 8:19-22)

1. God answers 2 basic questions:

1. “If God is all powerful and all
loving, then why is there evil
and suffering?”

2. Why is there such a gap between what

is and what should be?

II. Because God is making all things right we
serve Him and suffer for Him

now. (Romans 8: 16-18, 25-26)

1. Leg #1: A Biblical world view.
Broken by unbelief.

2. Leg #2: God honoring relationships.
Broken by shortcuts.

3. Leg #3: Finances reflecting God’s priorities.
Broken by greed.

4. Leg #4: Caring for your mind/body.
Broken by: gluttony

Turn to Titus 2:11-15

Living in hope
1. Hope for the Christian is not “hope so”; it is a certain and assuring “knowing” that God will make all things right. Until that time are you serving Christ and suffering if need be?
2. Which of the 4 legs above do you need to reinforce? What will you do to strengthen it?
3. When your heart quits beating, will God approve your life and will people be better because of you?
