The Handwriting is on the Wall
Daniel 5
Dr. Roger Ferguson, Sr. Pastor
January 28, 2007
THEME: At times when you serve Christ you will suffer for it. Suffering builds strength. God will use your suffering for His glory. Ask Daniel! Now go out and be a Daniel!
I. A shallow celebration leads to a painful realization.
1. Christ gives security in the midst of depravity.
"However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
Luke 10:20
2. Followers of Christ exert influence.
"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."
John 14:12
II. Faithful Christians will suffer but in the end they stand secure.
1. A hardened heart knows what's best but ignores it.
Mene: God numbers your days.
Tekel: Weighed and short.
Peres: Divided and given away.
III. Each of us will give an account of our life to God.
1. Without Jesus you are hopeless.
"Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."
John 3:18
2. Following Christ floods you with hope.
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
Romans 8:1
You will give account to God:
1. Have you asked Christ to save you and follow Him in believer's
baptism?
2. If you serve Christ, rejoice! You are making a difference!
3. What if today you died. What would you do differently? Do it now!
