History is His-Story

Daniel 2:31-49
January 21, 2007
Dr. Roger Ferguson, Sr. Pastor

I. THEME: Daniel's prophecy tells what will happen in the future. 2600 years afterwards we can see how history verifies the accuracy of Daniel's prophecy. Today we will see the kind of people we can be when we resolve to believe God is who He says He is. History is drawing to a close. God wants to use you to be a "Daniel" to someone today.

I. A panoramic prophecy of World Empires.

"They will fall by sword and will be taken prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled."
Luke 21:24b

1. Gold-Babylon 605-539BC (v. 32)

2. Silver-Medo Persia 599-331BC (v.32)

3. Bronze-Greek 331-146BC (V.32)

4. Iron- Roman Empire 146BC-400AD (v.33)

5. Iron/Clay- Revived Roman Empire ???A.D. (v.34)

II. The simple life of living for Christ gives strength.

1. Jesus alone deserves our full devotion. (v. 34-35)

"As you come to him, the living Stone-rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him."
I Peter 2:4

2. Those who serve with full devotion will risk all

to honor God. (v. 36-45)

3. Fully devoted servants of God use worry to prompt them to worship.(2:19-23)

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33

III. Jesus is the strong rock of God.

1. Jesus is the solid rock of salvation.

"He is the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
Acts 4:11-12

2. Jesus is the supreme rock of authority (v. 44)

"He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nations will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore."
Isaiah 2:4

Think it over:
Use the following questions to prompt your life to fuller devotion to
Christ:
1. Thank God that where there seems to be no way, He always makes a way.
He is in control and He takes care of His kids.
2. Have you trusted Christ as Savior and God and followed Him in
Believer’s baptism?
3. Whenever you worry, let it prompt you to worship.
