Peacemakers: Are You One?
Matthew 5:9
March 9, 2008
Dr. Roger Ferguson, Sr. Pastor
Realize I’m not God.
Earnestly believe God exists.
Fully yield myself and my will to Christ’s control
Receive God’s righteousness as a gift of grace.
Extend forgiveness to those who have hurt me.
Seek purity, don’t pretend.
Help people find peace with God and others.
I. The motive of a Peacemaker is Christ exalting lives.
1. Never compromise truth.
“Love and faithfulness meet together, righteousness and peace kiss each other.”
Psalm 85:10
2. Deal with issues quickly and redemptively.
“I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to agree with each other in the Lord.”
Philippians 4:2
3. Three-fold test of a peacemaker: Is it true? Is it necessary? Can the person I am telling do something constructive or do my words distract from the Gospel?
“Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.
Proverbs 26:20
II. An example of peacemaking. (Acts 6:1-7)
“And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him.”
2 Corinthians 5:18
Are you a Peacemaker?
1. Jesus did all that was necessary to bring us to God. He died on a cross! Are you living the kind of life that points others to Jesus?
2. If you have a problem with anyone, what can today’s Bible lesson do to help you be a peacemaker?
