I'm No Superman

July 30, 2006
I Corinthians 9:19-27
Mike Napier, Minister of Outreach

Growing up my favorite Super Hero was:

Superman had one weakness-what was it? Kryptonite

1. What is the Kryptonite in your life that keeps evangelism from being intentional?

"Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone to win as many as possible."
I Corinthians 9:19

a. In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus says that he gives us: all authority to tell all people in all places baptizing all of them and teaching them all the things that we have learned from Him-and that we are to do this all of the time.

b. When we get to Heaven I don't believe any of us will have to apologize to God for sharing the Gospel too much...But we might have to repent for sharing the gospel too little.

c. The Kryptonite in my life that prevents evangelism from being intentional is: ____________________

2. What Kryptonite keeps your evangelism from being relational?
I Corinthians 9:20-23

a. Paul is very clearly saying that he denied his own rights so that he might win some for Jesus.

b. Paul accepted people where they were and led them to where they needed to be.

c. First Baptist Church Owasso's purpose statement summarizes these scriptures:

The purpose of First Baptist Owasso is to take irreligious people and lead them to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

d. Who do you need to find common ground with?

Through FAITH Sunday School Evangelism you are taught by word and action:

How to become a servant to those around us.

How to depend more on the Holy Spirit to guide you as you work as a team of three.

How to discover common ground.

Discover something that you have in common with someone else and then build on that to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

e. What is the Kryptonite in your life that keeps Evangelism from being relational?

3. What is the Kryptonite in your life that prevents evangelism from becoming a lifestyle?
I Corinthians 9:24-27

a. Sometimes people around us lack the light to see fulfillment in life! They need light to follow.

b. What is the Kryptonite in your life that prevents evangelism from becoming a lifestyle? Circle which one best describes you or write it in the blank:

Lack of purpose
Running through life not knowing where you are heading
Daily beating the air for what seems like no reason
Lack of Spiritual discipline
Lack of training
